Sustainability · Kahramankazan

Our footprint is in the plant. Our biggest effect is in your appliance.

A heating element turns electricity into heat every day for ten or fifteen years. So we work on both: how we make it, and how well its heat reaches the load once installed.

This page sets out what we have done, what we measure and what we have committed to. Roadmap items are marked as such.

Renewable energy

About 1.2 GWh a year from our own roof.

Our rooftop solar plant has generated power since January 2025.

It produced 1,150,000 kWh between January and November 2025. The electricity is used first in our own production; surplus and shortfall are balanced with the grid.

Rooftop solar plant 960 kWp DC · 750 kWe AC Production Kahramankazan plant Public grid supplies the rest ≈ 1.2 GWh a year, used first rest of demand in · surplus out ≈ 540 t CO₂ avoided per year – estimate with a grid factor of ≈ 0.45 kg CO₂/kWh
Self-consumption first: solar power feeds production directly; the grid supplies the rest.

The CO₂ figure is an estimate based on the national grid emission factor (≈ 0.45 kg CO₂/kWh) and the plant’s measured generation. It is not an audited inventory figure – an audited corporate footprint is on the roadmap below.

Energy and material efficiency

The largest saving happens in the appliance – the rest in our process.

A well-designed element matches the watt density on the heated sheath to the medium, puts heat where it is needed, resists scale and lasts the life of the appliance instead of being replaced.

Efficient in use

We design every element for its medium and duty, and give thermal design input to OEMs working towards ecodesign and energy-label targets.

Energy efficiency in design

Recyclable materials

Stainless scrap from tube cutting, rolling and set-up is segregated by grade and recycled; brass turnings are collected for remelting.

Lower-impact processes

Bright annealing under protective atmosphere gives an oxide-free sheath without pickling acids. Nickel diffusion coating protects sheaths against corrosion and scale.

Compliance and data

Documented today. Measured and verified next.

RoHS and REACH declarations are in place. A verified carbon footprint and CBAM data for our welded tube are in preparation.

CBAM data supportEmbedded-emission data for the steel content of our products and for our welded tube, in the format EU importers needPreparing
CBAM – what we can provide: finished tubular heating elements are not within the current CBAM product scope, but the welded tube made by our Balçık Tube division is in scope (iron and steel). We are preparing embedded-emission data for it, built from our site energy data and our steel suppliers’ mill certificates and emission declarations. As our ISO 14064-1 inventory matures, these values will move from supplier-declared and default factors to verified site-specific data.

Figures as of 2025–2026, updated as inventories are completed and verified. Items marked “Planning” or “Preparing” are commitments, not current certifications.

People and supply chain

People and training.

Around 400 people work at Balçık. Health and safety covers risk assessment per workstation, machine guarding on rolling mills, presses and bending cells, protective equipment, health surveillance and regular training.

  • Vocational training: cooperation with vocational schools in the Ankara region; trainees and apprentices on the shop floor and in the laboratory.
  • Operator training: internal courses for operators moving to new rolling, filling and testing equipment.
  • Short supply chain: stainless tube from our Balçık Tube division, brazing and nickel diffusion coating from Balçık Brazing – critical processes in our own hands, not at sub-suppliers.
  • Supplier code: no child or forced labour, no bribery, protection of confidential information – see our supplier requirements.
